Our late spring timing was, of course, the best for waterfalls! And they were everywhere.
Jasper is known as a more adventurous and less touristy cousin to Banff, its sibling immediately to the southwest. We did not find Jasper to be a lot less touristy than Banff. Predicted freezing temperatures prevented us from camping as planned, and our lodging was inconveniently 42 mi/68 km from the central parts of the park.

Jasper Town is right on the Trans-Canada Railway, and trains are running through frequently. Eric photographed a locomotive that is there on what seems to be permanent display.
Near our distant lodging, northwest of the park, was a sign pointing the way to the AlCan, making me feel the ways the geography of North America fits together.
